The Chicks class is for our youngest learners, aged 2–3. At this stage, children are beginning to explore their world, developing personal, social, and communication skills through play and hands-on experiences.

Aligned with the EYFS framework for 2–3-year-olds, our focus is on the Prime Areas: communication and language, physical development, and personal, social, and emotional development. Children enjoy core storybooks, rhymes, and songs each week, helping to foster a love of reading and language. Simple phonics activities introduce listening skills, environmental sounds, and initial letter recognition, supporting early literacy foundations.

Children also take part in activities such as sensory play, early mark-making, storytelling, exploring textures, simple cooking, and outdoor adventures, all designed to spark curiosity and a love of learning. Chicks lay the foundations for future learning, encouraging independence, confidence, and social skills, preparing children for their next stage in the Cygnets class.
