Swans

Swans is our pre-Reception class for children aged 3–4, ready to consolidate learning from Chicks and Cygnets. At this stage, children build on their communication, literacy, numeracy, and social skills in preparation for Reception.

Aligned with the EYFS framework for 3–4-year-olds, Swans children engage in a rich, child-led, experience-based curriculum. They enjoy core storybooks, songs, and group reading, fostering a love of literature and language. Phonics development focuses on Letters and Sounds phases 1 and 2, introducing letter recognition, sounds, and early blending skills to prepare children for reading and writing in Reception.

Swans children take part in STEM challenges, cooking, woodwork, sports, cultural celebrations, and nature exploration, alongside Jewish and British values learning. The class helps children develop independence, resilience, confidence, and a love of learning, ensuring they are well-prepared for school while building on their prior experiences in Chicks and Cygnets.
