Cygnets
Cygnets is for children aged 3, building on experiences from the Chicks class. At this stage, children develop more extended language, thinking, and social skills, while engaging in more structured play and practical experiences.
Following the EYFS framework for 3-year-olds, Cygnets focuses on the Prime Areas alongside the early introduction of Specific Areas such as literacy, numeracy, and understanding the world. Children enjoy core storybooks, rhymes, and songs, helping to develop a love of reading. Phonics activities introduce Letters and Sounds phase 1 skills, focusing on listening, rhythm, rhyme, and initial letter recognition to support early literacy.
Cygnets children also take part in STEM experiments, cooking, animal encounters, woodwork, outdoor exploration, and cultural celebrations, encouraging curiosity, problem-solving, and creativity. These experiences consolidate learning from Chicks and prepare children for the transition to Swans.
